Shouts for 2007

No 1

17th March 2007 paged at 1755 for reports of a small capsized boat with possible persons in water. Extensive search of coast line carried out with nothing found. Yarmouth coastguard called of search at 2130. Other units involved were – Southwold lifeboat, Rescue helicopter 125, Lowestoft coastguard mobile and Southwold coastguard mobile.

No 2

25th March 2007 Paged at 1731 for an immediate launch to a kite surfer in trouble of the clearmount pier in Lowestoft. On arrival found that the person involved had made it safely back to shore.

 

The lifeboat was back on station at 1755 also Lowestoft coastguard mobile was in attendance.

31st March 2007 Paged at 2305 for person about to jump off the Bascule bridge. Stood down at 2310 before we launched as local police managed to sort the situation out.

16th April 2007 Paged at 21 55 for Mayday call  from Yacht (WHISPA) with 2 POB, 7nm SE of Lowestoft after being hit by a Tanker(GAS MONARCH)  Once on scene the situation was assesed & a tow was conected.

A casualty drogue was then passed to the yacht as she had too much damage to her steering.

Tow then comenced again but stopped due to water flooding in to the yacht.

2 crew members transfered to the whispa with the salvage pump, reconected tow & brought her in to the Haven marina at Lowestoft where she was lifted out straight away to stop anymore flooding.

 

Back on station at 0550

28th April 2007, Paged at 1416 hours to assist a 33" Dutch yacht (RAFIKI), with engine problems

in vacinity between the south holm & east newcombe bouys.

(3 P.O.B.)   On scene at 1432 & attached a tow.

Towed in to the RN&SYC marina & moored her on the Heritage quay.

 

Back on station at 1507 Hours.

30th April 2007 paged at 2149 hours, to assist a 9 metre  Dutch yacht, (CATHARINA).

Could not find harbour.

On scene at 2205 & escorted her in to LT & placed in the trawl dock.

 

Back on station 2230 hours.

No 7

 

11th May 2007 paged at 0905 hours. Mayday Call, from a 28ft yacht (FEMME CHIC),. possion given meant she was off Lowestoft but found to be aground on the Scroby sands off Gt Yarmouth 9nm to the north, because of the GPS not working correctly.

Caister Lifeboat was then launched due to being  the closest station  to the sands.

A survey vessel Celtic warrior, which works on the sands managed to get the lone 84 year old yachtsman off the boat.

We were stood down as we arrived on scene at 0945, as the Caister lifeboat was ok with getting the yacht off the sands.

 

Back on station at 1045 hours.

17th May 2007 Paged at 1247 hours, for a 14ft fishing boat (BOY STEPHEN) with engine problem in possition   52 25.001N_001 43.9E off Kessingland beach. (1 P.O.B).

On scene at 1310 hours.

Passed a tow & started the tow by 1315 hours & brought her in to the trawl dock in Lowestoft.

In dock at 1350.

 

Back on station at 1405 hours.

20th May 2007 Paged at 1958 hours,  Pan Pan, Call from a 23ft yacht (KIRLOU) 1nm East of Kessingland with engine failure.(1 P.O.B.)

On scene at 2007 hours but he had managed to get engine running again, so, started to escort him in to Lowestoft when his engine failed again.

We then connected a tow & brought him in to the RN&SYC marina.

 

Back on station 2100 hours.

23rd May 2007 Paged at 2037 hours,  for reports of Canoeist in distress off the south pier entrance.

On scene at 2045 where all was found to be ok.

Stood down & returned to station.

 

Back on station 2055 hours.

25th May 2007 paged at 2111 hours, for a Dutch yacht (FLECHER VERDE) after she was reported overdue & also loss of battery power.(No Nav Lights or Radio)

Last known possition 52 29.2N   001 52.5E

Found Her as the light was fading in possition 52 28.8N   001 49.2E at 2127 hours.

As it was getting dark & she was not making good headway, it was best to connect a tow & bring her in to Lowestoft.

Back in the RN&SYC Marina at 2230 hours.

 

Back on station 2235 hours.

No 12

 

06th June 2007 paged at 1936 hours, to assist a TUG (RELIANT) 1.3nm to the east of Pakefield, aground on a sandbank. (4 P.O.B)

Once on scene, we checked that she was not damaged or taking water,we then attached a tow to her stern untill she started to float, we then changed the tow to her bow and kept towing untill she was back in to deep water in the channel.

Escorted the tug back to Lowestoft.

 

Back on Station 2230 hours.

08th June 2007 paged at 0814 hours, to assist a 35ft Dutch yacht (AURIGA)

8nm off Lowestoft in possition 52 21.7N  001 53.0E with engine failure & no wind.

(4 P.O.B.)

On scene at 0900 hours & attached a tow, started towing at 0907 hours & brought her in to the RN&SYC marina at Lowestoft.

 

Back on station 1100 hours.

23rd June 2007 paged at 1444 hours, for 3 girls in trouble abeam of

Kensington gardens, possibly with dingy.

1455 girls were picked up by a speed boat & taken ashore to

a waiting ambulance before we arrived.

Called off at 1458 hours.

 

Back on station 1510 hours.

30th June 2007, paged at 1044 hours, for attempted jumper on the

Bascule bridge.

Called off at 1055 as local police sorted the situation out.

04th July 2007, paged at 1917 hours, for man about to jump off the

Bascule bridge.

As we entered the bridge channel the man jumped, one of our crew

members entered the water to assist the man to the boat.

Once onboard we took him back to station to a waiting ambulance.

10th July 2007,paged at 0604 hours, to assist a 39ft Dutch yacht,

(LA DULCE VITA)

In possition 52 22N - 001 45E with engine failure.

5 P.O.B.

On scene at 0628 hours & started to escort to LT.

At 07.00 hours it was decided to attach a tow as yacht not making much

head way with little wind.

Brought her in to the RN&SYC marina.

 

Back on station 07.45 hours.

13th July 2007,Paged at 2120 hours, to assist a 38 ft Dive boat

(PENETRATOR) with gearbox failure in possition-

52 31.09 N - 001 50.6 E, 4.5 nm ENE of Lowestoft.

On scene at 2145 hours where we connected a tow & brought

her in to the trawl dock in Lowestoft by 2300 hours.

 

Back on station 2310 hours.

No 19

 

14th July 2007, paged at 1526 hours, to search for missing child.

Last seen by her brother 50 mts off the Claremont pier.

Southwold Lifeboat, lowestoft coast guard mobile,beach

lifeguards & sea king rescue 125 from Wattisham also searching

the area.

After over an hour of searching, the rescue helicopter spotted

the young girl close to where we where seaching off

the back of Birds eye at 1635 hours.

She was picked up & taken to the J.P.H in Gorleston.

All units stood down.

 

Back on station 1655 hours.

17th July 2007, paged at 1351 hours, to assist a 36ft Dutch yacht,

(MISTRO)

In possition 52 26.566N - 001 41.145E with gearbox failure.

On scene at 1408 in possition 52 27.060N - 001 46.950E.

Attached a tow at 1412 hours & brought her in to the

RN&SYC marina.

 

Back on station 1510 hours.

19th July 2007, paged at 1427 hours, to assist a 14ft speed

boat (ALL TORQUE),

off pakefield beach opposite the jolly sailors.

On scene at 1440 in possition 52 28.309N

Tow connected at 1443 & brought back to the RN&SYC marina.

 

Back on station at 1515 hours.

23rd July 2007, paged at 1155 hours, after a PAN PAN

call from a 37ft Dutch Yacht (PAPA GOLF)

at the South holm buoy of Lowestoft with engine failure.

On scene at possition 52 27.82N  001 45.803E.

Connected a tow & brought her in to the

RN&SYC  Marina.

 

Back on station at 1240 hours.

24th July 2007, Called out this evening, after a report from a

member of the public, that someone was in the water at the

back of Birdseye.

Once on scene it turned out to be a buoy, marking a

lobster pot.

Seach called off & returned to station.

 

Back on station 15 minutes from launching.

06th August 2007,paged at 1353 hours, after reports of a person

in water behind Birdseye & SLP.

Once on scene a full scale search was carried out down to

Kessingland area.

Also searching were Gorleston ILB & Beach Lifeguards.

Nothing found, so search was called off at 1510 hours.

 

Back on station 1520 hours.

30th September 2007, called at 1124 hours, Diverted from exersize

to assist a local fishing boat (FOUR DAUGHTERS).

With engine failure.

On scene at 1150 hours & connected a tow.

Brought her safely back in to Lowestoft.

 

Back on station at 1302 hours.

03rd October 2007, Paged at 1721 hours, to assist a 28ft

diving boat (SEA RIDER) as she was taking on water,

approximately 8 nm NE of Lowestoft in possition

52 31.6N    001 57.8 E.   (5 P.O.B.)

Not in immediate danger.

On scene at 1800 & transfered 4 persons to us & one

stayed on the rib to assist the tow.

Brought her safely back to Lowestoft by 1910 hours.

 

Back on station at 1925 hours.

No 27

 

18th October 2007, Paged at 0114 hours, to search for a

person who had gone into the water at the back of Birds eye.

At 0200 the police & local coastguards spotted the man close to

the sea wall behind birds eye & managed to get him out ok.

An ambulance was called & at 0215 we where 

stood down & headed back to station.

 

Back on station at 0235 hours.

24th October 2007, Paged at 1440 hours, to assist a 41ft motor

cruiser (FLANNEL) after losing all power & being very

close to the beach.

(3 P.O.B.)

Once on scene in possition 52 30.385N-001 45.440E at 1505 hours,

we attached a tow & went ahead to take the tension off the anchor

so a they could pull the anchor up by hand.

Tow commenced at 1510 & brought her in to the trawl dock in

Lowestoft by 1550 hours.

 

Back on station 1600 hours.

28th October 2007, Paged at 0024 hours, to standby as

we had reports from the coastguard of a person about to go into

the water near to the Claremont pier.

Stood down as police were on scene dealing with the man.

 

Back on station at 0050 hours.

13th December 2007, Paged at 1020 hours, to assist & tow

a small fishing vessel (ICENI) after engine failure 17 nm

east of lowestoft.

On scene at 1135 hours where a tow was connected.

Brought her in & moored her in the Hamilton dock by

1405 hours.

 

Back on station 1425 hours.
